Nestled between Kenya’s Tsavo East and Amboseli National Parks in the heart of the Chyulu Hills, ol Donyo Lodge is a place of striking, untamed beauty, with the great Mount Kilimanjaro serving as a breathtaking backdrop.
Sprawled over 275,000 acres of private land within the Mbirikani Group Ranch, the property is home to an enormous variety of wildlife, including some of Africa’s last giant elephant bulls. Owned by 4,000 Maasai, the lodge actively supports the local community and conservation efforts of the local area.
Rebuilt in 2008, and nestled within thick woodland on a hillside, you will enjoy the phenomenal surroundings and views over expansive plains reaching out to Mount Kilimanjaro.
With a maximum occupancy of 16 guests, your stay at oL Donyo Lodge will remain serene and peaceful. All suites and villas have their own unique layout, boasting luxurious modern amenities including private plunge pools.
ol Donyo Lodge is an incredible luxury safari destination, offering a wide range of outdoor activities such as game drives, guided bush walks, horse riding, conservation and community out-reach programmes, and night camping on private ‘star beds’.
There are plenty of ways to unwind, with relaxing massages and blissful bush dinners. If you stay for a longer period of time, we recommend a fly camping where you can embark on an extended safari adventure.
The lodge
Designed to merge the outdoors with the indoors, ol Donyo’s accommodation is constructed out of natural, sustainable materials, blending into the surrounding environment. The suites and villas offer plenty of space, natural light, and spacious living areas to ensure your stay is comfortable and luxurious.
No two spaces are the same, but each one boasts a lounge, dining area, and plunge pool. Roof terraces are fantastic for late evenings spent star gazing, and the natural fireplaces warm the cosy, inviting spaces.
The family villa is perfect for larger groups, with two spacious bedrooms and high ceilings. Just a short walk away from the villas and suites, you'll find a fantastic hide where you can stay to watch wildlife visiting the watering hole.
Enjoy the outdoor dining area behind the wine cellar in a private or shared setting, and indulge in a wine tasting. You can also choose to have dinner in the gorgeous dining area overlooking the stunning plains, or you can have a relaxing meal served in your private living room.
